“Come Out from Among Them: A Call to Spiritual Purity”

Chaim Malespin

“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says YHWH. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” – 2 Corinthians 6:17

This is more than a suggestion; it is a divine summons. Elohim is calling us to clean the living—not just our physical spaces, but our inner lives. The homes we live in may sparkle with order, but our hearts and daily decisions are often cluttered with compromise. We’re being called to purify, to sweep out the things we’ve normalized, the cultural rituals we’ve justified, and the spiritual contaminants we’ve ignored.

The Word warns us: “Touch not the unclean thing.” Yet we often reach for it—through our screens, our conversations, our entertainments, our habits. As we focus on the physical, Elohim sees the spiritual. What we laugh off, He sees as dangerous. What drives you? What do you touch?

In today’s age of AI, robots, yoga, meditation apps, and self-styled spiritual practices, divination and witchcraft are not gone—they’re rebranded. But the source remains the same. The ancient Python spirit is alive in modern forms.

Acts 16:16 – A Spirit of Python Exposed

And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her master’s much gain by soothsaying.” – Acts 16:16 (KJV)

The original Greek word is πνεῦμα Πύθωνα (pneuma Pythōna)—a spirit of Python. This is not metaphorical. It’s a specific, historical spirit, tied to the Oracle of Delphi. The Pythia, or priestess, would enter trances and speak so-called prophecies under the influence of a spirit associated with the pagan deity Apollo.

How many of us have encountered this type of spiritual trickery? Whether it’s tarot cards, horoscopes, manifesting rituals, or “energy readings,” the same demonic forces are behind them. Elohim is not mocked. These are not neutral activities—they are attempts to manipulate the spiritual realm without submission to the Ruach HaKodesh.

Deuteronomy 18:9–14 – Warnings Against Pagan Practices

When you enter the land… you shall not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.

Detestable (To’eva – תּוֹעֵבָה) practices listed include:

Child sacrifice (to Molech)

Divination

Soothsaying

Interpreting omens

Witchcraft

Casting spells

Mediums and spiritists

Necromancy (calling up the dead)

Elohim called these an abomination because they replace trust in Him with manipulation and control—spiritual rebellion disguised as spiritual curiosity.

Verse 15 – The Prophet to Come

The LORD your Elohim will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to Him.

This is the prophet Moshe prophesied about—none other than Yeshua the Messiah. He would come not to perform parlor tricks but to reveal the heart of Elohim and rescue us from slavery to sin and the demonic.

1 Kings 18 – The Fire of Elohim on Mount Carmel

The Context:

Israel, under Ahab and Jezebel, had embraced Baal worship. Hundreds of prophets of Baal and Asherah performed magic rituals, ecstatic dances, and even cut themselves—desperate for a response from their gods.

“Maybe Baal will answer. Maybe Elijah’s Elohim will.”

This is what the crowd thought. They were used to seeing “magic.” They expected performance. But Baal didn’t answer. He couldn’t. He wasn’t real.

Elijah didn’t shout. He didn’t bleed. He prayed:

“Answer me, YHWH, so that these people will know that You are Elohim.”

And fire fell from heaven.

This is how true power is revealed—not through spectacle, but through obedience, faith, and the Ruach HaKodesh.

1 Corinthians 10:20 – Sacrifices to Demons

“The things which the pagans sacrifice, they offer to demons, and not to Elohim. And I do not want you to become sharers of demons.”

Paul is clear: idolatry isn’t harmless. It’s communion with demons. This reflects Deuteronomy 32:17:

“They sacrificed to demons who were not Elohim…”

When people play with Ouija boards, join spiritual retreats that invoke “ancient energies,” or listen to false prophets promising prosperity through universal energy, they are interacting with spirits—but not the Ruach HaKodesh.

Matthew 16:26 – Soul for Sale

“For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?”

The Greek word ψυχή (psuchē) means soul, life, inner self. In today’s world, people exchange their souls for fame, riches, or online approval. Yeshua says: it’s a bad trade.

He calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. That is the path to life. All else is a spiritual pyramid scheme ending in loss.

Acts 19:8–20 – True Power vs. Sorcery

In Ephesus, a city obsessed with magic and idols, Paul preached the truth. Miracles followed. Even his garments carried healing—not from magic, but from Elohim.

But others tried to imitate. Jewish exorcists invoked Yeshua’s name without authority. The demon-possessed man mocked them:

“Yeshua I know, and Paul I know… but who are you?”

They were overpowered and humiliated. Why? Because spiritual power is not a formula—it’s a relationship. You can’t fake authority in the spirit realm.

When revival broke out, believers publicly burned their witchcraft books—worth 50,000 silver coins. That’s like millions today. But truth mattered more than money. Freedom mattered more than reputation.

So Where is Witchcraft Today?

It’s not always cloaked in black robes. It’s in the books that teach children to cast spells “for fun.”

It’s in apps that promise healing frequencies.

It’s in yoga practices invoking Hindu deities.

It’s in the obsession with crystals, astrology, third eyes, energy fields, ancestor veneration, and “manifestation.”

These are sophisticated idols, dressed up for the modern world. But they are still gateways to demons.

Spiritual Housecleaning – A Command, Not an Option

When we clean our homes physically, it’s good. But what about spiritually? Are there movies in your queue that glorify witchcraft? Books on your shelf that teach mysticism? Jewelry tied to foreign gods? Objects brought home from “cool” spiritual trips?

This is why Elohim commands us to be separate. We must not touch the unclean thing—not with our hands, eyes, ears, or hearts.

The Evil Eye (Ayin Hara) and Superstition

In Israel, many rely on:

Red strings from Rachel’s Tomb

Blue charms and hamsas

Spitting “tfu tfu tfu” to ward off bad luck

Not saying “mazal tov” too soon

Covering mirrors after a death

Avoiding baby showers

But are these rooted in Scripture? Or are they forms of superstition—man’s attempt to control the unknown?

Elohim says: “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Daily Life Superstitions – Harmless or Harmful?

Don’t pass knives—it causes conflict.

Don’t sit at table corners—you won’t marry.

Don’t whistle indoors—it invites spirits.

Turn clothes inside out for luck.

Salt at doors, brooms upside down…

These may seem fun or harmless, but if we place our trust in them, they become idols. They replace faith in Elohim with fear of fate.

The Solution: Purify

We’re not here to condemn those who have stumbled into these things—we’ve all been exposed. But now that we know, we must choose:

Will we clean the house?

Will we rid our homes and hearts of compromise?

Will we stop playing with fire and walk in the light?

It’s time to stand like Elijah on Mount Carmel and say:

“If YHWH is Elohim, follow Him.”

Your House. Your Heart. His Fire.

Let the fire of Elohim consume every altar not built for Him. Let every false power be exposed. Let every demon lose its grip. Let the name of Yeshua be lifted high—not as a formula, but as our King.

Don’t just clean your life—sanctify it.

Don’t just remove bad—invite the Ruach HaKodesh.

Don’t just believe—walk in holiness.

Come out from among them. Be separate. Touch not the unclean thing. Then He will receive you.
